Cathy Bacon, President of Freedom Foods and founder of Hillside Lane Farm, served as President Vermont Specialty Food Association Board of Directors for the four years. “I worked hard to establish channels of communication with state representatives and association groups in Vermont.” During her tenure with VSFA Cathy testified at the Vermont State House; co-authored a bill providing funding for the construction of the Vermont Food Venture Center; successfully brought together various state agencies and food associations to develop strategies and measures to promote and support the Vermont food industry. Freedom Foods, LLC, a food consulting, development and co-packing company founded by Cathy, has implemented many of the goals of the strategic plan through optimizing use of locally sourced ingredients for value added organic, natural and specialty food products.
