In May 2008 Cathy Bacon, founder and President of Hillside Lane Farm, Ltd., advanced plans to open an artisan food consulting and production company for specialty foods.
Freedom Foods, LLC provides comprehensive food consulting, product development, and co-packing services for dry, wet, liquid and baked food items. The 8000 square foot facility adheres to organic operating procedures, is a state, federal and independent third party inspected facility, and recently received Gluten Free certification.
Maximizing the use of local agriculture ingredients, products made at Freedom Foods are available on our Hillside Lane Farm website and are distributed locally to natural and specialty food stores.
With a focus on natural, allergen free and foods, Freedom Foods has the pleasure of supporting companies nationwide in bringing new products to market. Many of the products made at Freedom Foods are also available for private label.
Freedom Foods opened in November of 2008 with three production rooms. Due to growth and demand in May of 2009 we added three more production rooms at our 24 Pleasant Street location. In 2011 we are expanding once again, and segregating our gluten free and nut free production zone. The new space add an new nut and gluten free wash room, two production rooms and replacing all lighting fixtures to high efficiency units.
We continue our focus on using locally raised agricultural ingredients and work with local farmers to compost food waste from production activities. Locally distributed products are transported using existing and established trucking lines, therefor not adding to fuel and energy consumption. Our facility was completely retrofitted and insulated during construction. Heat generated from our processing and storage equipment minimizes fuel consumption.
