Freedom Foods co-founder Molly Creelman keeps the ingredients are simple and natural. “The recipes are inspired from the buttercream frostings that I used to enjoy when I was a little girl, the time in my life when my mother and grandmothers called me Miss Molly. Now I am a mother with two young boys, Edward and Charlie, and I started Miss Mollys so that my children, and their friends, could experience the goodness that I was fortunate enough to have during my childhood.” Treat your little “cupcakes” to Miss Molly’s. Ready to use, in refrigerated dairy or dessert, there is no need for a mixer, nothing more to buy, or add in, and no mess to clean up!
“I love frosting and in any given week it seems that, for better or worse, its not hard to come by. As a family, living in Hanover, New Hampshire, we have so many frosting occasions to attend: from school celebrations, birthday parties and holiday get-togethers to barbeques, fundraisers and athletic events. My family and I are particularly dedicated to eating frosted treats when we have the chance to at these gatherings; and at the same time, I am equally dedicated to staying far away from hydrogenated oils and artificial ingredients. Unfortunately, Ive found that the two, frosting and artificial ingredients, are often one and the same.
Knowing that there were no authentic, natural, ready to use buttercream frostings out in the market, I decided to put my time into creating Miss Mollys Provisions” frostings. My goal is to help people, with busy lives, provide their friends and loved ones with a better tasting frosting, a natural, ingredients to live withﾮ frosting. So while I have not created world peace, I hope that you will agree that it is helpful to have available. Enjoy frosting your special occasions!”
Freedom Foods and our producers are passionate about our products. We make informed decisions regarding the ingredients based on quality, consistency, purity and taste. Many of our producers use local dairy, maple, fruit, proteins, and grains as primary ingredients. Production is completed in controlled batch sizes and there is a story to the product and real people behind the package.
Freedom Foods provides producers a trusted local partner to distribute their goods to accounts in a direct, cost-effective and environmentally friendly manner.
From our new location in Randolph, Vermont, Freedom Foods supports specialty food distribution, food production, and retail operations. Freedom Foods opened in November of 2008 with three production rooms. Due to growth and demand in May of 2009 we added three more production rooms at our 24 Pleasant Street location. In 2011 we are expanding once again, and segregating our gluten free and nut free production zone. The new space add an new nut and gluten free wash room, two production rooms and replacing all lighting fixtures to high efficiency units.
We continue our focus on using locally raised agricultural ingredients and work with local farmers to compost food waste from production activities. Locally distributed products are transported using existing and established trucking lines, therefor not adding to fuel and energy consumption. Our facility was completely retrofitted and insulated during construction. Heat generated from our processing and storage equipment minimizes fuel consumption.
Cathy Bacon, President of Freedom Foods and founder of Hillside Lane Farm, served as President Vermont Specialty Food Association Board of Directors for the four years. “I worked hard to establish channels of communication with state representatives and association groups in Vermont.” During her tenure with VSFA Cathy testified at the Vermont State House; co-authored a bill providing funding for the construction of the Vermont Food Venture Center; successfully brought together various state agencies and food associations to develop strategies and measures to promote and support the Vermont food industry. Freedom Foods, LLC, a food consulting, development and co-packing company founded by Cathy, has implemented many of the goals of the strategic plan through optimizing use of locally sourced ingredients for value added organic, natural and specialty food products.
